Throughout June students from all over Scotland have come together at Rokpa Dundee to hold special prayer vigils, making offerings and reciting Chenresig, Green Tara and long life prayers for the good health of Rokpa Dundee’s spiritual director, Ven Karma Jiga. A special prayer vigil was also held on Saturday 14th June in accordance with the inspiring message from His Holiness 17th Karmapa. To help remove obstacles for Rokpa in all its forms, as well as everyone connected to the organisation, His Holiness recommended that the Green Tara praises be recited for 24 hours. Vigils were held by the community throughout the world and at Rokpa Dundee.
WELCOME RETURN OF RINGU TULKU

We were delighted to welcome Ringu Tulku Rinpoche back to the Dundee centre this May for 2 days of teachings. Rinpoche gave the Vajrasattva empowerment along with teachings from The Union of Mahamudra and Dzogchen by Karma Chakme Rinpoche.

Everyone who was fortunate enough to spend time with Rinpoche in Dundee is truly looking forward to a return visit in the very near future for the continuation of these teachings.

The Dundee centre is also very proud to display a number of outstanding thangkas painted by Rinpoche’s brother and master thangka painter Salga. As on previous visits, during his time in Dundee, Rinpoche blessed the two newest additions to the centre, a 35 Buddhas thangka and a Karma Pakshi thangka. These breathtaking thangkas were also on public display during the Tibetan Connections exhibition this July (see below)

Saturday 30th & Sunday 31st August
10.30am - 12noon & 1.30pm - 3.00 pm

Friends of Rokpa Dundee and art lovers came together this July to enjoy ‘Tibetan Connections’, a very special exhibition of Tibetan culture and art including art, music, sculpture and photography. Visitors to the exhibition were given a rare opportunity to experience the beauty of some of the finest examples of Tibetan Religious painting in the world.

‘Salga’, brother of renowned Buddhist lama and scholar Ringu Tulku Rinpoche, is one of the foremost thangka painters working today and has produced artwork for monasteries and dharma centres throughout the world. Seven of his outstanding thangkas, specially commissioned for the shrine room at Rokpa Dundee by Ven Karma Jiga, were on public display at the exhibition for the very first time.

As Ven Karma Jiga is currently recovering from ill health a special personal message from him was read out by Carol to launch the exhibition. A number of stunning photographs taken by Ven Karma Jiga while on pilgrimage in Tibet and also some of his own practice items including his Kangling and Chöd drum were also on display during the exhibition making this a very special event indeed.
